A solid home victory

Bro Ffestiniog continued their excellent unbeaten start to the season with another bonus point win - but visitors Ruthin, still to find a win this season, should take a lot of positives from their own performance in very wet conditions at Cae Dolawel.
The first points came on four minutes though Dewi James - the Bro captain showing his strength to cross over for an unconverted try.
Ruthin responded and after some good pressure were awarded a penalty, lock Deian Lloyd Williams slotting over from 30m.
Playing with the slope of the pitch with them it was the Blues who dominated most of the first half but Bro's impressive defence kept them out, a second penalty should have given the visitors the lead but it fell short.
Bro then began to exert some pressure of their own, with only minutes of the half left a missed penalty goal went wide - Ruthin ran out of defence but Bro won turnover ball and after 4 phases quick hands out to Dan P who crossed for another unconverted try.
The sides went into the break with the score at 10 - 3 with the visitors still very much in the match.
Bro dominated and sealed the victory in the first fifteen minutes of the second half running in 3 tries.
The first came from the kick off - Bro's 2nd row Terry Lay catching the Blues defence napping before offloading to flanker Huw Parry to cross over under the posts centre Lee Aspden adding the conversion.
The bonus point try came from a text book move from a lineout with flanker Marc Morris crashing over, Aspden failed to add the extras.
The final try came after some good build up play by Bro, forwards and backs combining before Aspden charging onto a short pass crashed over for a try which he also converted.
The visitors gained most of the territory and possession in the final quarter but were still unable to punch through Bro's solid defence - the home side much the stronger side in the loose and collision area and the game ended with no further score and Bro comfortably winning 29 - 3.
The 1st Round of the WRU Plate will be played this weekend Saturday 8th October and a confident Bro will travel to Llandudno kick off is at 2:30pm
